Preparing your VSME report: a practical checklist for 2026
Most of the time spent on a first VSME submission doesn't go into answering questions — it goes into hunting down the right figures across invoices, HR systems and accounting software. This checklist helps you structure that search before you start.
1. General company information (B1)
Gather: your chamber of commerce number, NACE sector code, FTE count, and an overview of all your business locations. This is usually already complete in your company register extract and annual accounts.
2. Energy & emissions (B3)
Collect your annual electricity and gas statements (in kWh and m³) — usually available from your energy supplier, including as a year-end summary. For Scope 1 (own fuel consumption, e.g. company vehicles) you'll need your diesel/petrol purchases; for Scope 2, the share of green electricity in your contract.
3. Water and waste (B4, B5)
Water consumption is on your water bill. Waste data (total, hazardous waste, recycling rate) can be requested from your waste processor — most large waste companies can provide this report directly.
4. Workforce (B6)
Gather: total FTE count, part-time/full-time split, sick leave percentage and training hours. This usually comes straight from your HR or payroll system.
5. Policies (B7)
Check whether you have a documented code of conduct, anti-corruption policy and grievance mechanism. If not, these are typically short documents you can put together quickly with a template.
Once collected, you won't need to hunt down this data again for every new client request — that's the entire point of a central VSME profile like verified.supply.
