# verified.supply > verified.supply is a B2B SaaS platform that helps European SME suppliers build a > VS-compliant (Voluntary Standard, formerly VSME) sustainability profile once and > automatically deliver it to all clients requesting sustainability data for their > CSRD reports. ## Important update: VS Standard (3 July 2026) On 3 July 2026 the European Commission adopted the voluntary sustainability reporting standard as a Delegated Regulation — Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) C(2026) 5011, adopted under Article 29ca of Directive 2013/34/EU as amended by the Omnibus I Directive (EU) 2026/470. It is the legal successor to the EFRAG VSME recommendation of July 2025. The datapoints are largely the same; the legal status is now binding EU law. The module structure changed from VSME's B1–B7 to the VS Standard's B1–B11: B1 Basis for preparation, B2 Practices/policies/future initiatives, B3 Energy and GHG emissions, B4 Pollution of air, water and soil (new), B5 Biodiversity (new), B6 Water, B7 Resource use/circular economy/waste, B8 Workforce general characteristics, B9 Workforce health and safety, B10 Workforce remuneration/collective bargaining/ training, B11 Convictions and fines for corruption and bribery. A Comprehensive Module (C1–C9) is available on top of the Basic Module. verified.supply implements the VS Standard Basic Module (B1–B11). ## The value chain cap (Annex II) Annex II of the Delegated Regulation defines the maximum information that CSRD-reporting companies may request from undertakings with 1,000 employees or fewer. Two points are often misread and are worth stating precisely: - The cap has two size tiers. Annex II lists separate columns for undertakings with 10 employees or fewer and for those with more than 10. For example B3 (total energy consumption, GHG emissions), B6 (water withdrawal) and B7 (waste) are inside the cap only for undertakings with more than 10 employees; B1, B8, B9 and B10 datapoints are inside it for both tiers. - Being outside Annex II is not the same as being voluntary to report. B4 (pollution) and B5 (biodiversity) are outside the cap — a client cannot compel them — but the standard still expects them from anyone reporting the Basic Module. Conversely, B3, B6 and B7 are explicitly marked "voluntary for undertakings with 10 employees or less" in the standard itself. ## What problem does verified.supply solve? Large companies subject to the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) must report Scope 3 emissions from their supply chain. They collect this data by sending questionnaires to their suppliers. An SME supplier with ten large clients currently receives ten different questionnaires — each with different formats and deadlines — and fills in the same data ten times manually. verified.supply solves this by maintaining a single VSME profile per supplier that automatically populates any client's data request. ## What is the VS Standard (formerly VSME)? The VS (Voluntary Standard) is the European sustainability reporting standard for undertakings not subject to mandatory CSRD reporting. It began as the VSME (Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs), developed by EFRAG and recommended by the European Commission in July 2025, and became binding EU law on 3 July 2026 as Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) C(2026) 5011. Both names refer to the same lineage; "VS" is the current legal term. It defines a standardized set of sustainability datapoints for SMEs, covering energy consumption, GHG emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2 location-based), pollution, biodiversity, water use, waste and circularity, workforce metrics, and governance.
